Violence & Disturbances at funerals can occur for a number of reasons, including gang-related conflicts, arguments, or other disputes:
  • Gang-related conflicts
In some cities, funerals can become a place for rival gangs to seek revenge or continue long-standing conflicts. Funeral homes may refuse to work with families of victims of gang violence due to fear of retaliation.
  • Arguments
Arguments between family members, assets, relationships or other issues can lead to violence and disturbances at funerals.
  • Unwanted Guests
uninvited guests may show up. Sometimes its family members, prior partners, associates who feel they deserve to be there just as much as anyone else.
  • Threats of violence
Funeral homes may experience tense moments when there are threats of violence at services.

To prevent violence & disturbances at funerals, some funeral homes may request security. Having licensed and professional  security on-site will deter unwanted guests, disturbances and add a peace of mind for everyone attending.

Depending on the city where the funeral is held. Police response times is slow and by the time they arrive. The damage is already done. Police are also unlikely to get involved unless there is a history or threat of violence, or if there is a restraining order in place against the person.

Funerals are a time to mourn, to pay your respects, to say goodbye – and increasingly, they’re becoming a place some fear for their safety as well.

Contact a licensed security company for a consultation. They will gather some basic information (date of service, approx. how many guests, security concerns and etc.).  They will then recommend how many officers and the cost of service.
