Short Description: Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely.
More Details: This course is at least 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development.
Student will also receive instruction with certified instructor to demonstrate their abilities in safely and proficiently operating a handgun. Lastly student will participate in the range exercise and qualification. Students will receive the student manual and course completion certificate.
Class Limit: Limited seats available.
What Can You Expect: You can expect that by the end of this course, you will have dramatically increased your level of understanding of how pistols operate, and will have familiarized yourself with the following concepts (and more):
· Condition check (is the firearm loaded, safe, etc.)
· Loading / unloading a firearm
· Proper stance
· Proper grip
· Sight alignment and sight picture
· Trigger control
· Recoil management
· Functions and operations of the firearm
· Firearm Maintenance and Basic Cleaning
· Ballistics and variations of ammunition
Note: You do not need a firearm to take this course. This course is for both male & females, young and seasoned students.
